Throttle Max Speed
Attribute
Name | Type | Units | Depends On | Category | Subcategory |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Throttle Max Speed | Value | mile per hour (kph) (mph (kph)) | Has Throttle | Electrical | Throttle |
Throttle Max Speed is the maximum speed expected using only throttle. The speed is approximate and is usually quoted assuming the most favorable throttle usage, speed, rider weight and terrain.
Many bikes have a fixed maximum speed when using the throttle. Some bikes allow the maximum speed to be configured to comply with a different e-bike class and/or local regulations. If the maximum speed is configurable, then this value is the maximum speed that can be configured.
E-bike Classes
There are three classes of e-Bikes that are generally recognized in the United States. The regulations can vary by state and locality and we recommend you determine the applicable regulations in your area.
- Class 1: pedal assist only with a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph.
- Class 2: pedal assist and throttle with a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph for both.
- Class 3: pedal assist (and perhaps throttle) with a maximum assisted speed of 28 mph for pedal assist and 20 mph for throttle.
